A St. Mary's police officer was fired after posting inappropriate material on his Facebook page. As it turns out, the officer had been fired from two previous jobs for reasons including looking at child pornography.
Police officers have difficult and dangerous jobs. Because of this, there needs to be a more dilligence in doing background checks on officers. If an officer has been previously fired for misconduct, they should be disqualified from holding future jobs in law enforcement.
